KARAK ON THE DHOW

On 21.12.2024, The Karak made history as the first-ever third culture showcase aboard a traditional dhow cruise. Against the stunning backdrop of Dubai Creek and Al Seef, we celebrated culture, creativity, and connection in a way that felt both groundbreaking and deeply rooted in tradition.

The evening began with the warm buzz of anticipation as guests boarded the dhow at Al Seef, the historic gateway to Dubai and the birthplace of third culture. From the very first moment, it was clear this was more than an event—it was a movement, a celebration of the stories and identities that make this city so special.

Karak Conversations

One of the evening’s highlights was Karak Conversations, co-hosted by Faizal Razak, Creative Director and Co-Founder of The Karak, and Neel Jassani, Founder of GUNK Magazine. The panel brought together inspiring voices from the creative community to share their stories and insights:

Maysam Faraj, founder of Habibi Skate Shop, is building a thriving skateboarding community in the UAE by supporting skaters and empowering local scenes.

Adnan, co-founder of a community-driven streetwear and skate shop, uses his platform to foster creativity and connection in the local scene.

Samer Imam, creative producer and lead executive producer at Comedy Inc., has worked on major films and global projects, bringing bold stories to life.

Together, they explored the intersection of culture, creativity, and community, offering fresh perspectives on what it means to be part of Dubai’s third-culture movement.

Highlights from the Night

Workshops: Guests participated in a unique sailing knot-tying workshop by @windrisesdubai, blending tradition with hands-on creativity.

Live Performances: Sudanese third-culture artists from The Circle — AKA KEYZ, G SALIH, and EAZ DA BULLY — delivered soulful performances that captivated the crowd.

DJ Sets: Beats from TEEJAE, DJ KABOO, and BYMISHH, creating an unforgettable vibe aboard.
